Hastings Retain Greenwood Cup

Congratulations to the Hastings Golf Club who have retained the Greenwood Cup in a very close affair with Maraenui, and when I say very close ….. I mean very close!  In the final match between the two clubs, it was 5 all with 5 holes to play but Hastings GC scraped a half back to make the final score Hastings 5 ½ to Maraenui’s 4 ½.  This meant Hastings had 7 wins on the board and Maraenui 6 wins, so reverse that result and obviously the result goes the other way.

Congratulations also to Onga Onga who were winners of the Radonich Trophy (best team of the Country Clubs).

In the individual players section, the winner of the Bretherton Buist Cup was Carlos Tawera from Hastings who had 7 wins from 7 matches. Also in the running for the cup was Kris Bower (also Hastings) who also had 7 from 7 but by virtue of starting at no.5 Carlos, as opposed to Kris at no.10, Carlos wins the cup. Also unbeaten were a youngster in Mako Thompson (6 wins and a ½) and seasoned campaigner Stu Duff (5 wins and 2 1/2s)
